Honey Daniels est une très belle jeune femme alternant son boulot de serveuse/vendeuse et de chorégraphe pour gagner sa vie. Elle attend que la chance lui sourit et elle aura raison : Alors même que ses parents lui garantissaient un avenir confortable et sans histoire, elle a préféré l'aventure et a choisi d'aller vivre au cœur de la ville, en prise directe avec la musique. C'est ainsi qu'un réalisateur vidéo la découvre et lui offre sa première chance : un job de choriste, qui lui permettra de faire ses preuves et de gravir rapidement les échelons. Devenue en peu de temps la chorégraphe préférée des plus grands noms du hip-hop et du R&B, Honey se croit au pinacle... Mais le rêve s'évanouit tout aussi rapidement, et Honey revient à ce qu'elle connaît le mieux : ses élèves et cette musique urbaine qu'elle aime tant, et qui lui feront redécouvrir le pur bonheur de la danse...

Des talents de danseuses cachés ?

On découvre des chorégraphies très travaillées et des déhanchés qui ne nous laissent pas indifférents, le tout sur un fond de black-music... Bill Woodruf, le réalisateur du film est aussi réalisateur de clips vidéos, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Missy... autant de grands noms ont travaillé avec lui. Il a surtout voulu mettre l'accent sur l'univers de la danse et de la musique et n'a pas hésité à faire suer Jessica Alba. En effet, cette dernière nous assure ne pas avoir pris de cours de danse auparavant et avoir tout appris sur le tas. Cependant, rien ne fut facile pour elle, chaque pas de danse aurait pris un temps fou à être enregistré dans sa tête.
